Even though in Tokyo, the forecast says 36, it definitely feels like 40!
The temperature has crossed 40 degrees in Gifu. Nearly 10,000 people have visited hospitals as a heat wave continues to affect Japan. The figure below gives you an idea of the intensity of heat. Summers are usually hot and humid but this year is a lot hotter than usual.
No wonder people have been eating eel in summer as it is known to increase strength and reduce suffering in the sweltering days of summer.
